Things I look forward to in November!
Bésame Cosmetics on Cultbeauty.com
The absolutely beautiful vintage inspired beauty brand Bésame Cosmetics is soon to be available in Europe through Cult Beauty. That’s a big yeah from my side! I’ve been a fan by distance for years and I’m so happy there are finally more easily accessible for the European fans. I’m going straight for the lipsticks and powders with this one and I believe the Velvet Red lipstick and Vanilla face powder will have to be mine. Be assured I will order and write a review and brand profile soon.
The Crown on Netflix
On the 4th of November Netflix will release its mega budget biographical 10-episode story about the reign of Queen Elizabeth II and I can. Not. Wait. I have always had a thing for the Queen. I think she is just the coolest cat and don’t get me started on her iconic style. You do not need to be a royalist to appreciate a job well done over the last 64(!) years. She is such a unique figure in having been in that position during such a long time, such a unique perspective on the last century. Oh the stories that lady could tell and the fact that she never will tell just makes it more enticing. Anyways, I hope the series is a good one and that they don’t over-dramatize (that always seem to go against my idea of the English stiff upper lip and such but who knows, maybe they are a vastly dramatic family in private, although I doubt it).
Also on my Netflix que this month: Land Girls, Velvet, The Get Down, Designated survivor and the new season of the Fall. Let’s see how far I’ll get after all the wall painting and floor polishing is done.
On a personal note; moving in to our new house!
My boyfriend and I recently bought our first house together (although we have been living together for 8+ years) and I’m naturally really looking forward to starting the decorating/fixing up process. Although we have been quite lucky with the rental places we have lived in until now, I’m very excited about having a place where we can decorate and get everything exactly as we please. The house was built in 1924 and the previous owners has fixed it up quite nicely but in a very modern taste. My goal is to bring it back a bit more to its original style by replacing some of the more modern elements with features that are more true to the 1920-1930’s style. See a few of my favorite inspiration pictures below!
My planned strategy of feeling at home in the new house even when we still have long to go before everything is finished is scented candles, which always works doesn’t it? My long time all-natural and luxurious favorites are NEOM candles. They smell amazing and are reassuringly non-toxic. I thought I’d look around to try and discover some new natural brands as well. I’ve made a small selection of great stuff I have been able to find so far below. I will get back to you when I have had the chance to try some of them out.
I have long loved the “overgrown jungle look” in homes. Especially in bathrooms or other less predictable spaces. One of the things I’ve been thinking about most with regards to decorating is what plants to buy and where to put them. This might sound surprising to those who know me and who know my boyfriend is the one who makes sure our plants don’t die a slow and painful death, ahem, but it’s never too late to better oneself right? My inner gardener has been awakened and I am now dreaming of hanging plants and my own mini herb garden. To be continued. Until then, here is a list of my favorite green friends that I hope to give a good home soon.
